The Shelf

They say Time grants you
your deepest wishes
or changes your dreams
with itself.

They say childhood saw
a thousand wild fantasies
that remained a tale
between other books on the dusty shelf.

But even as I age and
as Time, the voyeur, passes by,
my shelf of childhood dreams
I dust away from the hopeless cries.

Each book I flip through
reminding myself of my future life
with the nostalgia of
a childhood for it that striv'd.

This shelf of a thousand wild fantasies
I have harboured all along.
They and they alone
Rightfully to my belong.

And each of the White Dress and
Solitaire Diamonds, Places World Over
and Unconditional Love,
I promise myself to bring to reality.

For these dreams have driven me
ever since my first breath,
and I will chase them
Till my last.

Trying Yesterday

I tried waiting,
my eyes got tired
of keeping a watch
on your route.

I tried calling out
your name,
my voice wouldn't
get that loud.

I tried walking
the distance between us,
my feet got tired
midway.

I tried remembering
the last time
we laughed together,
it was too long back.

But when I tried thinking
of when I fell in love with you,
and the last time
you made me smile...

...there was no tiredness,
my heart knew,
no matter
the miles.

It was just yesterday,
when I was yours
and you
were mine.

Just yesterday,
when Love stood
yet another
test of time.

Just yesterday,
that our lives were
for an Eternity
entwined.
