The Echo of Pieces

His eyes fell on her
like sun rays on a mirror.
He saw the reflection of love,
now those eyes see terror.

He says he loves her
like no one else ever would.
He says he cherishes her;
now alone she stood.

A thousand sparkles shattered
over the blankness of her mind.
The ring he had gifted her
lay on the table, losing its shine.

He promised such
more than he could give.
She'd barely asked for much,
but love that stood still.

He lied, he didn't want to hurt,
but she was hurting, with every moment.
She thought, he may never know her worth
while she pens down this lament.

Someday, she hopes, someday,
among all these ruins of her heart,
a voice would echo of love,
not of moving apart.
