Unrequited.

It's like you're talking into vacuum
and expecting a reply.
It's like an incomplete song-
no music, just a rhyme.

Each breath of mine, is for him.
And he breathes free.
Seems like I've lived only for him
to someday accept me.

Looking into those eyes,
my entire world, I see.
A part of him and a part of me,
together, a different entity.

Being beside him
is my greatest bliss.
While in his mind,
he awaits an other's kiss.

The cruelty of feelings-
like a slow knife, it kills.
I feel like never feeling again;
swallow a desensitizing pill.

Yet hopes flicker
on a candle molten with time.
The flame burning out,
possibility merging with grime.

...And the dusty piano
plays a consistent music composition
without a rhyme.

Oftentimes I feel...

Oftentimes I feel...

What more could I wish for in life

If each of my mornings, the soft sunlight
radiating on your dreamy face
were my first sight?

What could be a better melody to hear

when laying my head on your chest,
your breath and your heartbeat
would make the best tune to my ears?

What could be more secure

than my tears landing on your shoulder.
your arm across my shoulder,
my hand held with a promise in yours?

What could be more beautiful

than watching a smile play on your lips,
your face glowing in the night,
under the soft light of a full moon?

What could make a better evening

than a small coffee table,
soft music in the sunset,
Love overflowing through the chimney?

And what could be more joyful, more satiating,

more unconditionally contenting,
than watching you smile,
affection in your eyes,
the evening breeze kissing your hair:

Knowing exactly what I mean, when I say "Oftentimes".

The Shelf

They say Time grants you
your deepest wishes
or changes your dreams
with itself.

They say childhood saw
a thousand wild fantasies
that remained a tale
between other books on the dusty shelf.

But even as I age and
as Time, the voyeur, passes by,
my shelf of childhood dreams
I dust away from the hopeless cries.

Each book I flip through
reminding myself of my future life
with the nostalgia of
a childhood for it that striv'd.

This shelf of a thousand wild fantasies
I have harboured all along.
They and they alone
Rightfully to my belong.

And each of the White Dress and
Solitaire Diamonds, Places World Over
and Unconditional Love,
I promise myself to bring to reality.

For these dreams have driven me
ever since my first breath,
and I will chase them
Till my last.

Trying Yesterday

I tried waiting,
my eyes got tired
of keeping a watch
on your route.

I tried calling out
your name,
my voice wouldn't
get that loud.

I tried walking
the distance between us,
my feet got tired
midway.

I tried remembering
the last time
we laughed together,
it was too long back.

But when I tried thinking
of when I fell in love with you,
and the last time
you made me smile...

...there was no tiredness,
my heart knew,
no matter
the miles.

It was just yesterday,
when I was yours
and you
were mine.

Just yesterday,
when Love stood
yet another
test of time.

Just yesterday,
that our lives were
for an Eternity
entwined.
